Overview
Trezor Suite is the official desktop and web client that provides a secure interface to manage cryptocurrency wallets with a Trezor hardware device. It separates the signing of transactions (done on your Trezor device) from online interactions (done in the Suite), ensuring your private keys never leave the hardware.
Install & Keep Trezor Suite Updated
Install Trezor Suite only from official sources. Choose the desktop app for best security posture; the web app is convenient but ensure you are on the official domain.
- Download: Visit the official Trezor site and download the Suite for Windows, macOS, or Linux, or use
suite.trezor.iofor the web client. - Verify: Prefer the desktop installer and verify signatures if available. Confirm publisher metadata in your OS installer prompts.
- Update: Allow firmware updates only when prompted by official Suite messages. Firmware updates improve security — verify warnings and confirm on-device.
Initial Setup & Wallet Creation
- Connect your Trezor: Plug in the device using the provided USB cable and open Suite.
- Follow on-screen steps: Create a new wallet or recover an existing one. If creating new, write your recovery seed on paper (or use a metal backup).
- Set a PIN: Choose a non-trivial PIN on the device. This protects local device use if stolen.
- Optional passphrase: Advanced users may enable a passphrase (BIP39 passphrase) for an additional hidden wallet — understand that losing the passphrase means losing access to that hidden wallet.
Using Trezor Suite — Day-to-Day
Checking Balances & Sending
Connect your Trezor, open Suite, and view balances across supported coins. When sending:
- Review transaction details in Suite and confirm the same details on your Trezor device display.
- Always verify recipient addresses on-device for high-value transfers; do not rely solely on the clipboard or screen preview.
Receiving Funds
- Use a receive address generated by Suite. Consider using a fresh address for each incoming payment for privacy.
- Verify the address on your device screen before sharing it.
Security Best Practices
- Hardware-first: Keep large holdings on the Trezor hardware wallet; use hot wallets or small balances for frequent spending.
- Firmware & Software: Keep both device firmware and Suite updated from official sources.
- PIN & Passphrase: Use a strong PIN and consider passphrases only if you understand recovery implications.
- Backups: Keep multiple offline backups of your recovery seed in geographically separate, secure locations. Metal backups are recommended for longevity.
- Phishing & Scams: Always type or bookmark official Suite URLs, never follow links in unsolicited messages, and never share your seed or private keys.
Advanced Features
Passphrase (Hidden Wallets)
Adding a passphrase creates an additional hidden wallet derived from the same seed. This is powerful but dangerous if you forget the passphrase — the hidden accounts cannot be recovered without it.
Coin & Token Support
Trezor Suite supports a wide range of coins and tokens. For some assets (especially tokens or non-standard chains), you may need a compatible third-party wallet that supports Trezor for signing.
Transaction Management
Use Suite's advanced fee controls where available and confirm fee estimates shown both in Suite and on-device before approving.
FAQ & Troubleshooting
My device is not recognized
Try a different USB cable/port, ensure Suite is up to date, and check OS permissions. On some systems you may need to install drivers or allow the browser to access the USB device.
How do I restore from seed?
In Suite, choose the recovery option and carefully enter your seed words in order. Prefer manual entry on device where prompted rather than pasting from a file.
I think my seed was exposed — what now?
If you suspect exposure, move funds immediately to a new wallet generated on a secure, uncompromised device and with a new seed. Treat the old seed as fully compromised.
